In cities which are tight for space, Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading innovators when it comes to space conservation. The concept is  nothing new,  and there is no better example than in this small-space designed by architecture firm LAAB.

In creating the perfect living space for this couple and their three cats, they have had to think about how the building would be used in the context of time, and in doing so, have come up with a solution that not only is workable living space, but also offers unique design solutions. As you can see from the videos below, the apartment transforms drastically throughout the day to serve the different functions that the couple encounter. For example, it is a dressing room in the morning, to a kitchen at meal times, to a media room when friends come over.

Changing the context of each of the elements within the room, the apartment transforms via tailor made fixtures and fittings with bathtub that turns into seating with some slats and cushions, a movable wall also serves as a vanity and shelving unit and there is also additional hidden storage in the floor. Although a tiny apartment by any standards, undoubtably there is inspiration that all of us can take when short on space.

Take a closer look below and let us know in the comments if you would be up for living in an apartment like this one!
