35+ Stunning ‘She Shed’ Designs That Are The Perfect Life Retreat
We never thought we’d say this, but she-sheds are right at the top of our dream home wish list. Despite the somewhat tongue-twisting name, these pint-sized backyard escapes have proven to be a huge trend. It’s easy to see why: They’re simple to build and are downright adorable. Okay, some of these are amazing and probably require a construction crew, but it’s inspiration nonetheless; ask yourself, is there a part of your house that’s currently unused that you can transform into a little spot for some peace and quiet?
The only challenge is seeing past the utilitarian nature of a shed. With a little lighting, some extra storage, maybe some cute furniture, you’ve turned that potting shed into a much nicer alternative to hiding in the bathroom next time you need some “me time.”
Beautifully designed spaces packed with twinkling fairy lights, plush upcycled furniture and pastel coloured doors, she-sheds are the antithesis of the dark, dark-smelling dens of common perception. And turning the traditional concept of a garden shed on its head, a she-shed can be used as anything from a home office to write your own novel from, to an escapist’s retreat offering some much-needed peace and quiet. From full on vintage chic to sleek, minimalist styles, you’ll never look at your garden shed in the same way again.
We can dream…
You’ve built your She Shed, now style it for maximum use. Shorten your commute by working from your backyard office. Bright colours and accent pieces create a cheerful space.
What I think that I love most about the she shed idea is that it’s not actually part of the house at all. You literally can build one of these to be as extravagant or as understated as you want it to be. Some of my favourite iterations of the she shed are the rustic looking versions that almost look like a simple garden shed. I like the idea of something very normal looking on the outside but glam or modern on the inside as a sort of juxtaposition to a typical shed.
